When I was younger my mom used to tell me that "fashion always repeats itself." She swore her wardrobe consisted of peasant shirts, scarves tied around her head, bell bottoms, and leather jackets, but I never believed she could be so cool.
Now that I am older I find myself biting my tongue, and cursing the day I told her she was wrong. Trends come and go, but they always come again. Here are 5 fashion trends that have made a come back.
Overalls: This 90's trend is here to stay for at least another fall season. If you are new to the overall game we advise you to go with a leather pair for a chic and fresh look.
Culottes: Once known as the "skort", it is now back with a new identity. This time around it is a true trouser, and no longer a pant/skirt combo. We are all about this trend for the spring, and love them paired with wedges or flats.
Floppy Hats: We are all about this 1970's trend, and love that it is here to stay. Spring and summer will not be complete without one of these on your head or in your beach bag.
Bohemian Prints: Brands like Novella Royale, Blue Life, Tularosa, and Tigerlily are creating beautiful maxi dresses, skirts, and jump suits in fun and flirty bohemian prints. These prints hearken back to the 70's hippie chick, and are super cute for the spring.
Gingham: This 1950's fad is back again, and can be seen all over the Spring 2015 runway. We are really into this, and can't wait to get our hands on a skirt set in this pattern.
If you live on the east coast then you are feeling tortured and teased by spring, but the reality is that spring is right around the corner, and it's time to revamp your wardrobe. One of our favorite spring trends this year are sneakers and lots of sneakers. Sneakers look super cute with leggings, skinny jeans, shorts, mini skirts, and dresses. We love to travel and sightsee for 10-12 hours a day, so we are extremely excited that sneakers are on trend for spring 2015.
Adidas Stan Smith Shoes: These are all the rage right now and can be seen on the hottest celebrities and bloggers. These retro sneakers look so fresh and so clean clean. Consider yourself lucky if you are able to get your hands on these. Our advice is to get them from the men's section and go 2 sizes smaller than your regular size.
Nike Air Huarache: We weren't so sure how we felt about these until we saw them on Sincerely Jules, our blogger icon, rocking these in Paris. (Check out our previous blog post highlighting fashion blogs we read religiously) These are statement shoes for sure, and come in a wide variety of colors. You can even customize a pair on the Nike website. We love the bright blue color that Jules wears.
Superga High Tops: We snagged a pair of these back in January while walking the floor at Lord & Taylor. Superga's are so comfy and these high top sneakers look perfect with a dress, skirt, or jeans. We love the double zipper detail and distressed sole. We opted for the black and white combo, but this sneaker comes in all black everything and all white.
New Balance 620: Um yes please! We will take every color and every combination of these. These sneakers offer the perfect pop for spring, and are an extremely practical choice. Prices for this style range from $60-$80 depending on where you get them from. J Crew stocks their own exclusive color combinations, but hurry because they are selling out fast.
Nike High Tops: These are such a throw back to the 90's and we love a good retro shoe. The neutral colored combo is beautiful, and comes with a snakeskin texture. This spring is all about the neutrals and white on white so get your wardrobe in order, and cop yourself a pair of these.
We love a good black ripped skinny jean, and we are all over this trend for the spring. A good pair of black skinny jeans can take any outfit to the next level. Every woman should own a pair of distressed jeans, and we have found a pair for everyone no matter what your body shape is. Here are our must have picks all under $75.
