I am in the process of redesigning my apartment, and I can't help but drool over everything that Restoration Hardware has to offer, but the problem is that buying anything from RH will put me in debt for life.
After many sleepless nights, and hours spent counting up my change jar in hopes I would find enough for a miracle, I was forced to start looking elsewhere. Much to my surprise there are so many amazing sites and options to choose from that I wanted to share some of my finds.
I had my eye on this RH couch, too bad it starts at $6500! I found this baby at Anthropologie for only $2900...scary that seems like a bargain.
I was in search of a new TV console, and wanted something rustic and masculine. I opted for this all metal welded beauty from World Market...at $629.00 it's a steal.
I also spent many nights dreaming about this upholstered bed from RH but at $3000 it was breaking the bank. I found this amazing copy bed at Overstock (they even call it the same name- Chesterfield!), and it is only $1100.
I was dying for this first cabinet to showcase all of the things I have collected from my travels, but the $1800 price tag would put my credit card over the limit, so I opted for this copy from World Market for $399.
Overall I had great luck hunting down deals. Sites like World Market, Overstock, and Wayfair offer a great selection and affordable prices. I love using RH as inspiration, but that is really all it will ever be for me...pure inspiration.
I can't believe the summer is coming to an end, but our latest fall shipment of hats is really helping curb my depression. I am seriously obsessed with this falls color palette which is a mix of earth tones and neutrals. All you need this fall is a basic tee, ripped jeans, a super cute trench, and a fedora.
Here are some of my favorite styles for the fall.
Brixton Piper in Merlot and Black
Brixton Wesley in Heather Grey and Rust
Brixton Tiller in Heather Green and Grey
I was never a lipstick girl until I started to branch out from what I knew lipstick to be, and now I never leave home without it. I was never sure what color to buy or even what brand or vessel was the best. I tried all different kinds from traditional lipstick to the kind you have to apply with a brush. It was a long and hard journey to find the best lipstick but I finally settled on a Nars Lip Pencil that I absolutely LOVE.
When choosing lipstick you should consider the size of your lips. Are they large, is your bottom lip bigger than your top, do you have bird lips, etc. For thinner lips try lighter to medium shades like peach, pale pink, or light beige and opt for a tube lipstick with a brush or tinted lip gloss. Most traditional lipsticks will just provide extra coverage and can cause that "clown" mouth look.
You can also go for a lip liner to add some extra volume and of course a really good lip plumper will go a long way!
For larger lips you can really wear any color. Lip pencils and traditional cream lipsticks work perfectly. During the day opt for a soft pink or neutral and at night try something dark like a burgundy or berry for a sexier look. I love the Givenchy brand lip stick not only does it have a really luxe feel but the colors are beautiful, and my new favorite is the Nars Lip Pencil in Sex Machine.
Are you going to a bridal shower and you just don't want to give one of those lame blenders that are on that Bed Bath & Beyond registry? Well let me be honest because I don't want to.
I have racked my brain trying to come up with a cute practical gift that is appropriate yet different so I wanted to share my own journey and some ideas for non-registry gifts.
A Homemade Basket of Wedding Day Essentials: If you are a DIY queen or love being creative than this is the gift idea for you. Look to include things that the bride can use on her wedding day and long after. I am obsessed with this cute makeup/lipstick case from Nordstrom. In addition to this cute case, I would look to include a really cute headband that she can throw on while getting her makeup done the day of. In addition these Wine Wipes make such a practical add, and she will definitely want to keep her pearly whites shining all day long.
PJ's: PJ's are perfect for her bachelorette weekend, but let's be honest they are perfect for EVERY occasion. Look to give a PJ set in a really fun pattern that she will feel cute staying up all night in. I love all of these styles from Victoria's Secret.
Spa Day: Because everyone needs a massage!
Honeymoon Essentials: This is another DIY idea. I would use a beach bag as a vessel, and fill it with fun goodies like flip flops, a hat, to-go cups, lip balm, sunglasses, a beach blanket, and portable speaker.
Summertime is not only my favorite time, but it's the best time to revamp your wardrobe and your beauty regimen. I don't know about you, but I am so excited for my skin to ditch that dry flaky dull thing it's got going on, and to live in dresses and sandals.
Take my advice and don't break the bank when it comes to summer essentials, but definitely add pieces that can carry you through to the next season and are made to last. Look to update the beauty products that you have become so reliant on to spice up your look and breathe new life into your hair, nails, and skin.
Here are some of my picks for this summer's must haves:
WIth summer right around the corner it is essential that you have this seasons must have accessory...a hat....DUH! Not only do you need one, but you need a Janessa Leone hat. We have freshly stocked the boutique with the best and most versatile styles.
Gloria: Neutral straw and extra large for major sun protection
Rita: Black panama straw fedora that fits all head shapes
Jane: If you were a fan of the Gabriel for the fall and winter than you will love the Jane.
Lucy: This is a celebrity favorite and ofcourse it is one of ours too.
Sara: This hat is made for smaller heads, and it is a perfect year round style.
When I was younger my mom used to tell me that "fashion always repeats itself." She swore her wardrobe consisted of peasant shirts, scarves tied around her head, bell bottoms, and leather jackets, but I never believed she could be so cool.
Now that I am older I find myself biting my tongue, and cursing the day I told her she was wrong. Trends come and go, but they always come again. Here are 5 fashion trends that have made a come back.
Overalls: This 90's trend is here to stay for at least another fall season. If you are new to the overall game we advise you to go with a leather pair for a chic and fresh look.
Culottes: Once known as the "skort", it is now back with a new identity. This time around it is a true trouser, and no longer a pant/skirt combo. We are all about this trend for the spring, and love them paired with wedges or flats.
Floppy Hats: We are all about this 1970's trend, and love that it is here to stay. Spring and summer will not be complete without one of these on your head or in your beach bag.
Bohemian Prints: Brands like Novella Royale, Blue Life, Tularosa, and Tigerlily are creating beautiful maxi dresses, skirts, and jump suits in fun and flirty bohemian prints. These prints hearken back to the 70's hippie chick, and are super cute for the spring.
Gingham: This 1950's fad is back again, and can be seen all over the Spring 2015 runway. We are really into this, and can't wait to get our hands on a skirt set in this pattern.
